Anthony Antapassis
Lawyer in the Hellenic High Court of Justice and professor of Commercial and Maritime law at the University of Athens.

Education: Faculty of Law University of Athens (Doctor in Law), Institut de Droit Européen de l’ Université de Strasbourg (Diploma in European Studies), Université Libre de Bruxelles (Diploma in Maritime Law); Practices law since 1967 with main specialization in commercial and maritime affairs. He is a senior partner in the “A. Antapassis & G. Albouras Law Office”. Member of the Piraeus Bar Association. Member of the Board of Directors of the Piraeus Bar Association for several years. He is an appointed arbitrator of the International Chamber of Commerce and the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.

President of the Greek Maritime Law Association. Ex President of the Hellenic Competition Commission. Ex member of the Special Court for Mistrials. Titular member of the Comité Maritime International. Member of the Commercial Law Association, the Civil Law Procedure Association, the Greek International Private Law Association and the Association of Judicial Studies. Member in numerous drafting committees. He has participated in several Greek and International Conferences. Author of over 50 books and articles, which include among others: Claims secured by maritime liens, Les codes maritimes grecs, Droit applicable aux accidents de travail maritime, Assistance and salvage at sea, Greek Ship and her personnel under European Law, The Convention of 1952 relating to the arrest of ships, Taxation of income arisen out of greek ships, Liability of Classification Societies etc.

Paul C. Avrameas Graduate of the Law School of Athens University (1956). Admitted to practice law as a member of the Athens Bar Association (1959). Post graduate studies in Maritime Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Paris (1960-1963). Practicing law in Piraeus since 1963, initially as a member of a law firm and since 1965 as founder and senior partner of the law firm Paul C. Avrameas Law Offices, specializing in shipping and banking matters.

Member of the Panel of Maritime Arbitrators of the Piraeus Chamber of Shipping since 1966. Member of the Greek representation at the UN Conference in Hamburg 1968 (Hamburg Rules). Former Vice-President of the Greek Maritime Law Association. Honorary member of the Comite Maritime International (1995). Founding member and President of the Hellenic Society of Maritime Lawyers since 1998. Founding member, member of the board of Directors and Secretary of the “Piraeus Association for Maritime Arbitration”.
